Is your church ready for Aldersgate Special Needs Sunday?

This annual date on the calendar of the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church – scheduled this year for Sunday, August 13 – is set aside to receive a special offering for Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry.

Aldersgate is a United Methodist agency formed by families and friends seeking to prepare for the future of their loved ones with developmental disabilities. Its mission is to provide the highest possible quality of life and the greatest possible level of independence – all within a community, faith-based, residential setting.

This ministry operates three homes for adults with special needs:

  • Aldersgate at The Oaks, adjacent to The Methodist Oaks Retirement Community
in Orangeburg, a home for six men.
  • Aldersgate Columbia, near Epworth Children’s Home, a home for six women.
  • Aldersgate Florence (“Rick’s House”), near The Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee, a home for four men.
