The South Carolina Conference is looking to hire an Accounts Payable Clerk who would be responsible for processing invoices and providing accounting-related support services. This position requires assisting in the daily operations of the Treasurer’s Office/Administrative Services and upholding the integrity and confidentiality of financial transactions. This position also works as the building receptionist while performing accounts payable duties.

This part-time position (three days per week or 21-24 hours) pays $15-$17/hour.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
1. Provide assistance to accounting manager and treasurer.
2. Maintain vendor profiles and records (W-9s, ACH forms, certificates of insurance). Prepare and enter invoices for payment, record electronic payments. Distribute checks (mailing). Answer vendor inquiries.
3. Assist with reviewing and posting cash receipts input.
4. Maintain office equipment and postage equipment. Add postage to prepaid equipment and permit accounts when required.

BUILDING RECEPTIONIST (Mondays and Tuesdays)
The part-time receptionist is to pleasantly perform the following:
1. Answer calls to the building’s main number(s) and transfer them to the appropriate person.
2. Assist visitors to the building, answer routine questions in person, by phone, by email, etc.
3. Maintain the outgoing phone message with current information such as closures for holidays.
4. Sort incoming mail and promptly notify departments in the building when mail or packages arrive.
5. Maintain the online conference room reservation calendar.
6. Keep lobby area neat.
7. Perform accounts payable duties while working as receptionist.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of high school diploma required. Technical training or associates degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, particularly related to telephone and email communication.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Basic bookkeeping knowledge and understanding of accounting systems.
