Traditional Worship Leader Job Description
Reports to: Executive Pastor

Position Overview: The Traditional Worship Leader manages and coordinates the traditional worship experiences at Covenant.

Traditional Worship Music Ministry
* Oversees the traditional worship experience for Sunday mornings and special worship services, in coordination with the Senior Pastor.
* Oversees all music programming (Worship Choir, Orchestra, Instrumentalists, Student Choir, Children’s Choirs, and small ensembles).
* Works with vocalists and instrumentalists to prepare for worship.
* Sets the calendar for all traditional music programming in coordination with the church staff.
* Selects and prepares all music utilizing Planning Center in conjunction with staff and volunteers.
* Oversees the Creative Worship Planning Team.
* Directly supervises the Director of Instrumental Music and the Director of Children & Youth Choirs.
* Supervises music staff and volunteers to help with music preparation and ministry support for Student Choir, Children’s Choirs, and small ensembles.
* Oversees, trains, and facilitates all worship support teams (attendance counters, communion servers, communion prep, and sanctuary care).
* Provides communication through E-mails, social media, and electronic newsletters to all music ministry staff, volunteers, and families.
* Provides relational support with music ministry families through hospital visits, calls, and cards in conjunction with the pastoral staff.
* Oversees a volunteer administrative support team who helps the music ministry by running copies, ordering music, writing music, and accounting for purchases.
* Coordinates wedding services in conjunction with the Wedding Team, as needed.
* Coordinate special events for music ministry (funerals, retreats, tours, etc.).
* Shares responsibility for Christmas decorating and preparation in conjunction with the church staff and volunteers.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor to effectively meet the objectives of the position.

Education and Experience
This position requires a strong spiritual background and commitment to the church and to the ministry of the church. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Traditional Worship Leader in a church is desired and a bachelor’s degree in music performance or education from an accredited institution of higher learning. A master’s degree is preferred, but not required.

Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
