Edwards named a UMM man of year

The United Methodist Man of the Year award of appreciation has gone to Gordon Edwards, member of Eutawville United Methodist Church, from the General Commission United Methodist Men of Nashville, Tenn.

Edwards’ pastor, the Rev. Billy Lewis, and Ray Ardis, church council chair, said they appreciate his service to the church and the community. They said Edwards has a heart of gold and loves God and mankind. He is the immediate past president of the United Methodist Men’s group and serves on several church committees. He supports local outreach activities with his talent and service. He is a choir member and served at the Eutawville Crisis Center to assist hundreds of individuals in need with food and other necessity items. He is a born salesman and will sell his own shirt to help someone else. Edwards is also an active community leader and serves on the board of one of the local Santee Resorts.

“His faith in believing on the joys of Jesus Christ makes him an angel,” said Ardis.

Lewis stated his appreciation for Gordon’s “heart of gold love” for all.
