Lay Servant Training- Fall 2022

Attendance of all sessions is required for course credit.
Please be aware of the different dates for the Called to Preach course, will be October 15 & 22.

Registration Fee: $20 (Course Books will need to be ordered by participants. Please see details below.)

Classes Offered

Basic Course- Lay Servant Ministries: Glenda Spann-Hinnant

Participants are encouraged to discover and employ personal spiritual gifts as God intended and to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership, developing future leaders, remaining rooted in consistent spiritual practices, and being part of a group that holds members accountable in their discipleship.

Discover Your Spiritual Gifts: Monica Tilley

Understand spiritual gifts and how the church can use them in mission and ministry.

Heritage: Ted and Athena Cathcart

This course will explore the special gifts of theology, witness, and organization that The United Methodist Church brings to the church universal, how we got where we are today, and how our distinctive emphases are still needed in the 21st century church.

Called to Preach: Rev. Charles Farnum **Note dates will be October 15 & 22

For those who are called upon to preach in the pastor’s absence and is required if in the lay speaker track of study.

Soul Reset: Kristen Gommer

Helping leaders nurture their souls during seasons of anxiety, chaos, and distress. Helping all to discover and lead into the spiritual power of self care through the means of grace.

Lay Pastoral Care: Rev. Michael Walker

Offers insights into the lifespan and the dynamics of contemporary life to help church leaders reach out with God’s love and care for others.

Aging and Ministry in the 21st Century: Geneva Rufus

Building a ministry for older adults.
