LOCATION(S):     Columbia, South Carolina

JOB SUMMARY:  Epworth Children’s Home, a ministry of the United Methodist Church in South Carolina, seeks an organized, nurturing, and consistent individual to serve families in their homes as an Early Intervention Specialist (EIS). The EIS provides services to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who have special needs and their families in Richland and Lexington counties.  Through frequent home visits and contacts, the EIS works with parents and caregivers to provide quality Family Training/Special Instruction and Service Coordination services for children ages birth to six years who have developmental delays/disabilities in natural environments in accordance with policies set forth by the SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs and SCDHHS’ BabyNet through compliance with the lead agencies’ regulations laid out in the associated program and Medicaid manuals.  Timely and accurate documentation, including professional reports and correspondence, is a routine part of the role of an EIS.  The EIS must be able to manage her or his time effectively to meet all deadlines associated with the management of the Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and/or Family Service Plans (FSPs) developed with each family.

 QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or a related field per the employment guidelines of the lead agencies.  At least one-year experience working in an early childhood classroom or with children ages birth to six years who have disabilities and a working knowledge of infant and child development is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Ability to work effectively in collaboration with other professionals and agencies.  Must possess a valid SC driver’s license and use of personal vehicle. Full time position. May require flexibility in hours to accommodate client schedules.  Must be able to pass standard background checks, including FBI Fingerprinting, SLED, DSS, Central Registry/Sex Offender, and DHHS’ Exclusions Database check, as well as pre-employment drug test and employment physical.
