The Summit on the Black Church is a conference gathering of African American clergy and laity held every other year for the purpose of celebrating the presence and ministry of the African American congregations in the SC and providing resourcing and training that would further strengthen, equip, and empower local congregations to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

This will be our third summit.  The gathering features keynote worship addresses, several plenaries, a banquet, and practical workshops for clergy and laity focusing on leading effective ministry in the local church.

The 2014 Summit will focus on “Ministry with the Poor.”  The goal of this conference is to equip and empower congregations to impact the variables that cause poverty in their local context. In particular, this conference will focus in on children in poverty (Pan Methodist Campaign on Children and Poverty), Homelessness, and HIV & AIDS.   Our energies will center on how congregations can directly impact their communities and the variable related to poverty.

The dates for this event are October 2-4, 2014

The Keynote speaker for this event is Bishop Gregory V. Palmer, Resident Bishop of the West Ohio Annual Conference.
