Veritas Management Group (VMG) has an opening for a Pianist/Organist who is proficient in
playing a standard 88-key keyboard/piano and a standard 108-key organ, sight reading hymnals
and praise/worship songs, and performing music for chapel services. The Pianist/Organist will
perform the following tasks:
Duties and Responsibilities
Sight reads hymnals and praise/worship songs and is proficient in playing both a standard
88-key keyboard/piano and a standard 108-key organ.
Performs music for the chapel services to include prelude, postlude, accompaniment for all
hymns and when needed by the choir.
Provides background music during periods of the service when requested.
Knowledgeable of the liturgical church year calendar (as required per service) and
coordinates music selections for preludes and postludes appropriate to the liturgical season.
Coordinates musical selections with the respective Chapel Pastor.
Plays with vocalists and instrumentalists and arranges music.
Coordinates music selections with Chapel Pastors and vocalist(s), assisting arrangement of
music with vocalist(s) as required.
Coordinates with the Chapel Pastor and other musicians, choirs and/or worship teams to
adjust tempo and style of accompaniment to enhance the congregations ability to
participate in worship through the signing of hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs.
Coordinates with Chapel Pastors in order to balance the worship sound with a multigenerational congregation so that all worshippers are engaged and included in the worship
experience.
Supports the choir/worship team to learn the music necessary to lead the congregation in
the worship and special services.
Plays hymns/tunes in the accepted service hymnal(s) while maintaining appropriate tempo,
note accuracy, rhythm, and appropriate registration if at the organ.
Directs and accompanies soloists, ensembles, or choirs with minimal rehearsal.
Plays the piano/organ for designated worship services including accompanying singing of
hymns, choruses; play preludes, offertory, and background for meditation/prayers, and
postlude that enhances the atmosphere of worship for the particular congregation.
Provides direction and musical accompaniment for a weekly service rehearsal or as
required by Chapel Pastor, assisting choir and/or worship team rehearsals.
Performs special services on a specified Sunday, rehearsals and special programs
(e.g. funerals/memorials, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) as required. Must be able to play
required musical instruments according to professional standards.
Communicates with the Chapel Pastors, Chaplains, and other musicians conducting the
chapel services to ensure a coordinated planning for congregation worship.
Plans and coordinates all musical selections with the Chapel Pastor or his/her designated
representative in selecting music that is in keeping with the liturgical calendar and theme of
the worship service.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Must be able to sight read praise/worship songs and hymnals
Must have a minimum of five years of experience rendering the required services
