River Road United Methodist Church in Henrico, Virginia, seeks a full-time Minister of Youth and Worship to oversee the youth ministry and contemporary music program. The Minister of Youth and Worship supports RRUMC missional objectives by inviting middle and high school age students into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and nurturing them in their discipleship and service to others. The Minister of Youth and Worship also establishes, administers, and directs the Contemporary Service’s music and worship leadership so that it maximizes participation, and encourages individuals to grow closer in their relationship to Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities include initiating and organizing a wide-ranging student ministry program for middle and high school age youth. This includes organizing a variety of small groups, service opportunities, and mission trips. The ability to relate well with students and parents, strong communication and organizational skills, and a passion to grow youth in discipleship are all required.
The Minister of Youth and Worship will also design and organize a music ministry for the 9:30 a.m. contemporary worship service and provide leadership to the praise band and AV ministries. Playing a musical instrument, worship leadership skills, strong vocals, and worship music collaboration with the Lead Pastor are all required.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree and some experience in both student ministry and worship leadership.
