LOCATION(S):     Columbia, South Carolina

JOB SUMMARY:   The Major Gifts Officer actively engages a dynamic portfolio, motivates and inspires constituents to support Epworth’s mission through major gifts. The officer develops and cultivates relationships with prospects and donors, maintains a public profile as an ambassador of Epworth, and communicates effectively the missional needs of Epworth and the capabilities and desires of constituents.

Build relationships with volunteers, board members, corporate representatives, foundations and current and prospective donors toward qualifying and building a caseload of donors.  Manage a portfolio of 125 – 150 donors. Create and execute a moves management plan for each qualified donor in portfolio.  Secure a minimum of $500,000 – 750,000+ in major gifts in first year.  Hold a minimum of 75 – 100 face-to-face visits with major gift prospects

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field with five years of fundraising or related experience.  Successful track record of securing 5, 6, and 7 figure gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Demonstrates practical application and experience with technology such as database functions/reports, Microsoft Word and Excel, internet/email usage, etc.  Working knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge. Must be able to pass standard background checking, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
