Campus Minister Opening

 

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through campus ministry.

 

Description: The Campus Minister is employed and authorized by the Board of Directors as the executive director to conduct the daily affairs of the Appalachian Wesley Foundation, oversee the use of its facility, assist the Wesley Board with fundraising, and supervise all employees, interns, staff and student leaders. The Campus Minister, as an appointed ordained elder and clergy staff member, has the authority to preach and teach the Word of God, to provide pastoral care and counsel, to administer the sacraments of baptism and Holy Communion, and to order the life of the campus ministry for service in mission and ministry on the campuses of Appalachian State University and Caldwell Community College (Watauga Campus).
Type: Salaried full-time ministry position — thirty-five (35) hours of work per week in addition to required events, retreats, and mission trips during the calendar year (which all together averages over forty (40) hours per week).
Connection: The Appalachian Wesley Foundation is an extension ministry within the connectional structure of the United Methodist Church (UMC). We serve within the bounds and under the direct authority of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference (WNCC) of the UMC, and we relate to the annual conference through the WNCC Council on Campus Ministry and our Board of Directors. We are located within the Appalachian District of the WNCC.
Qualifications: -Disciple of Jesus Christ and faithful witness of God’s love

-Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church (or soon to be ordained)

-Passion for ministry with young adults and proven effectiveness

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with young adults

-Demonstrated skills in leadership and administration

-Proficiency with A/V technology and social media

Preferences: -Experience in fruitful United Methodist campus ministry

-Vision for campus ministry development and missional advancement

-Experience in ministry networking, fundraising, leadership development, strategic planning, and non-profit leadership
