Greetings from the President

From the President's Desk.......

This has been a wonderful summer because I enjoyed a stay-cation instead of a vacation.
I stayed home and had a party with God. I used this time to re-evaluate my life and
purpose. God really has a sense of humor because he answered me in the funniest ways.
He may not come when you want him but he is always on time.
The ladies of the Columbia District continue to go above and beyond because we hosted
the SCCUMW Come Together Be Together at Francis Burns UMC and the Youth School
of Christian Missions Day at I.DeQuincey Newman UMC. The events were well attended
and the ladies were gracious host to the visitors.
I attended the SCCUMW School of Missions in Spartanburg and participated in the
plenaries and drove the golf carts. We also had other ladies from the district participating
in the plenaries and driving the golf carts. Donna Pearman, Pat Gundler and Flo Johnson
were drivers (move over to the side…smile). The class I attended was Forgiveness,
Restorative Justice and Reconciliation. Reverend Connie Barnes was the study leader
and she talked to us about how God wants us to forgive and reconcile. If there is someone
in your life that you have not forgiven, pray to God and ask him to help you with this
personal struggle. Forgiveness and reconciliation keep us in line with Christ.
The program committee is preparing for the annual meeting. Our theme is “All Things
Made New”. When I think about All Things Made New, I get this over whelming feeling
that I cannot explain. I hope you will attend because we have an exciting morning planned
and wear your favorite college or professional football team colors (shirt,
hat or etc.).
As United Methodist Women, you should keep going and growing because God has much
in store for you.
Blessings to you,
Betty Jeffcoat -Void
