Guidelines for putting images on the web.

1. Anytime you are going to post a picture of a child on a website you need to have a model release form for that individual.

2. Do your best to keep people from being able to download the images. This can include using Adobe flash galleries, or making the images small so that those that would steal them are limited in there use. - NEVER put a full resolution camera image online. It's usually too large for people on slower internet connections, but also increases the likely hood that someone may use an image of a minor with out their parents knowledge or consent. This can lead to legal issues for the church.

3. Never include any personal information along with a photo of a minor. This includes, names, addresses, phone numbers, etc... You don't want to give a predator a child's name, image or contact information. That is more than enough information for them to get close to a child.

General notes about images online

-Just because an image is online DOES NOT mean you have the right to use it.-

Images that are online have the same copyright protection as any other image. If you want to use an image you find online you need to check the terms of use, or contact the photographer/company.
It's almost always cheaper and easier to go with a stock photography company like istockphoto.com
