The Carolinas Black Clergy Leadership Retreat – scheduled for May 21-25, 2018, in Myrtle Beach – is designed as both a chance to renew, reconnect and refocus, and an opportunity for worship, fellowship and learning.

“In Mission From Anywhere to Everywhere – Strengthening the Beloved Community” is hosted by the South Carolina, North Carolina and Western North Carolina conferences of the United Methodist Church at the Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation, 9800 Queensway Blvd., Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Speakers include:

Session topics include “Keeping Your Focus: Navigating the Times,” the Forward Focus Initiative, the Abundant Health Initiative, “Healthy Congregations/Healthy Communities,” and “Health, Wealth and Happiness.”

Retreat workshop participants will earn a certificate in “Mass Incarceration 101” from the Exodus Foundation. The six-hour training will be an interactive discussion rooted in African-American cultural history and biblical interpretation. Participants will be taught by formerly incarcerated persons and experts in a variety of fields, including but not limited to law enforcement, mental health and prison abolition.

Retreat registration fee is $150 by April 30, $175 after that.
