Education Partnership Resources

This summer, United Methodists across South Carolina collected over 320,000 books for preschool and elementary aged children within our state.   This was a fantastic accomplishment and will, no doubt, have a strong positive impact on literacy in South Carolina.  However, our work does not end here.  Now that the books are being distributed, it is our responsibility to follow the books to the children.

On this page, you will find an index of organizations and programs that are already promoting education in a variety of ways across South Carolina.  Examples include:

  • Tutors
  • Mentors
  • Reading buddies
  • After school programs
  • Weekend snack-pack programs
  • And more…

Churches are encouraged to partner with these programs to establish relationships with schools and meet the unique needs of children in their community.  In counties where few programs are available or a need is not being met, churches may want to implement their own programs to benefit local students in ways that they see fit.

Simply find your church’s district and county to get started exploring the service opportunities working with students in your area.
