Looking for an October series for your adult Sunday School class?

The UMC General Board of Church & Society has created a Bible study to help congregations reflect on what scripture and the United Methodist Church have to say about domestic violence.

In “Hidden in Plain Sight: A Call to End Domestic Violence,” four hourlong sessions focus on different ways domestic violence shows up in our lives.

Globally, one in three women experiences sexual or gender-based violence. Many factors increase women’s vulnerability to violence, including motherhood, migration and the accessibility of guns.

As we approach Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, use this study to reflect theologically on the physical, emotional and sexual abuse that many women and girls experience.

This also will encourage people within your faith community to work to build healthy relationships and advocate for policies that end the threats of violence.
