Local Church Mission Fair to Be Held at Annual Conference on Monday, June 2, 2014

The Lay Leadership Area of Connectional Ministries will Celebrate the mission and ministries of local churches across South Carolina during the Local Church Mission Fair to be held on Monday, June 2, 2014, 12 noon-2 pm at the Florence Convention Civic Center in the downstairs ballroom. The fair will highlight local churches involvement in ministries with children and ministries related to poverty. Local churches are encouraged to submit a ministry their church participated in this past year that is focused on these topics. Churches will then be invited to come to Florence and set up an exhibit that will present their ministry to all those in attendance at the 2014 Annual Conference.  We also would like for presentations to include a representative(s) from the church to talk about the mission and answer any questions that might be asked. Exhibitors are encouraged to be creative in presenting their ministries in a way that will give those who visit the displays, a good impression of what the ministry is and how it serves mankind. Those churches that have ministries in this area, but elect not to exhibit at the Mission Fair, can also participate by sending the required information along with photos and a complete description so the ministry may be included in a video presentation that will be presented during the 2014 South Carolina Annual Conference. Deadline for submissions is April 30, 2014.  Once received, submissions will be reviewed by the Lay Leadership planning committee and you will be notified of your selection by May 15, 2014.

Bishop Holston will be on hand during the Mission Fair for pictures and greetings with those churches exhibiting.

Food will be available during the Mission Fair with several food stations set up all around the ballroom. Seating for eating will be included in the ballroom. You are urged to purchase your tickets ahead of time as only a limited number of tickets will be available the day of the event.  Note: As food will be available, this  event will replace last year’s Local Church Mission Luncheon.  For additional information or any other questions, please email laityevents@umcsc.org.

      The form can be obtained on the conference website by clicking the article entitled “Annual Conference Mission Fair” and clicking the red submit your ministry button. The form should then open and allow you to type in the required information. After you submit this information, you will be notified of receipt and additional information will be given.
