About the SC Conference

Welcome to the South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church! This conference is unique in United Methodism. We have a marvelous history comprised of one predominantly African American conference formed in 1866 and one predominantly Anglo conference formed in 1785. The two united in 1972 and continue to witness to God’s love for all persons. We celebrate our distinctiveness, and we are committed to our unity in Christ.

We invite you to visit our churches and join with us in being bearers of the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ, so the love and grace of Christ may be made known through us.

“The South Carolina United Methodist Conference is a church of diverse congregations called, united and sent by Jesus Christ.”

“to make disciples for Jesus Christ by equipping its local churches for the ministry and by providing a connection for ministry beyond the local church, all to the glory of God.”
The book of Discipline 2004 page 351, P601
