Doctor Dad™, developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative  helps fathers to be aware and involved in the health and safety of their infant or toddler.  Be prepared to have a positive impact on your child and children in your community.  Dads learn basic medical knowledge that will prepare them to care for their child in medical situations.

This training will help fathers to gain:

  • The ability to respond to the immediate needs of his child
  • The ability to quickly and confidently respond to a medical emergency
  • The ability to know when to seek professional medical assistance for his child
  • The knowledge that he can have a positive impact on the daily life of his child
  • An appreciation of the father-child bond
  • Enhanced parenting skills

24/7 Dad™ is a unique, comprehensive set of fatherhood programs developed by a team of nationally and internationally recognized fathering and parenting experts and with input from fatherhood practitioners. This study focuses on five characteristics that a father needs to be a great dad 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  It covers the total aspect of fatherhood so that men of all cultures, races, religions, and backgrounds can benefit. When a father completes the program, he becomes a 24/7 Dad who:

  • Is aware of himself as a man and aware of the significant impact he has in his family. He is in touch with his moods and feelings/emotions, his capabilities, his strengths, and his limitations.
  • Is a man who takes care of himself. He gets annual physicals, eats the proper foods, exercises to stay in shape, has a strong spiritual connection with his community, and chooses friends who reinforce his healthy choices.
  • Is very aware of the significant role he has in the family. He is a positive role model. He capitalizes on his knowledge of the unique contributions (e.g., skills) he brings and that his wife/the mother of his children brings to raising his children (i.e., the difference between "fathering" and "mothering").
  • Is a nurturing parent who clearly understands and accepts the importance his parenting skills have in developing the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual and creative needs of his children.
  • Works to build and maintain healthy and supportive relationships with his children, wife, family, friends, and community.

Long Distance Dad™ is a 12-session study for fathers who are incarcerated.  It is designed to help fathers to use the time that they are serving to discover and improve themselves, to help them improve their fathering skills, and to help them learn how to get and stay connected to their children.  This study focuses on helping fathers see how important they are in the lives of their children, and that they can take an active role in their lives even behind prison walls.  It helps dads to see that nothing can or should separate them from their children.

Foundations of Fatherhood™ is a entry-level study to fatherhood.  Since children don’t come with instructions, we often need help to learn how to become the best parents that we can be.  This takes much commitment, work and time.  It also takes learning how to communicate, managing anger and frustrations, knowing the developmental aspects of our child’s life, how to have balance in our care and nurture of our children.  All of these area and more are covered in this 12-session study that is designed to help fathers see who they are and know how that affects their children.
