The Office of Clergy Services works with the Episcopal office, Cabinet, Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and district committees on ordained ministry to ensure competent clergy leadership through recruitment, credentialing, supervision, deployment, support and evaluation.  Specifically, Clergy Services:
a) acts as custodian of the personnel records of the Board of Ordained Ministry,
b) serves as the Administrative Registrar of the Board of Ordained Ministry,
c) provides coordination between the episcopal office, cabinet, and Board of Ordained Ministry in matters relating to transfers, approval of extension ministries and similar matters,
d) resources district committees on ordained ministry and acts as liaison between the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and the district committees on ordained ministry,
e) prepares the report of the Board of Ordained Ministry for the clergy session of annual conference,
f) supports the work of the cabinet and Board of Ordained Ministry related to clergy recruitment, and
g) assists the bishop and Board of Ordained Ministry in other matters of clergy concerns and relationships.

This work includes processing and keeping records on and caring for conference relations of over 1400 clergy in South Carolina. At any given time there are 200 or more persons entering the ministry by profession or transfer.
